Petr Korda

Petr Korda ( born January 23, 1968 in Prague, then Czechoslovakia ) is a former Czech tennis player.

Korda caused a first for a stir when in 1992 he reached the final of the French Open, which he lost but smooth against American Jim Courier. In 1993 he won the Grand Slam Cup in highly doped Munich in the final against Michael Stich after a hard- fought match.

His biggest success in 1998 was the final victory against the Chilean Marcelo Ríos at the Australian Open, the only Grand Slam title of his career. After this victory Korda rose to No. 2 in the ATP world rankings. After his Viertelfinalaus at Wimbledon in the same year he was tested positive for nandrolone and suspended for one year.

Overall Korda won in his career 10 single titles and 10 doubles titles as a player. During his career he won a prize money of 10,448,450 U.S. dollars.

Korda is married to Regina Rajchrtová, a former tennis player. The eldest daughter Jessica (born 27 February 1993) is a professional golfer on the LPGA Tour. As an amateur she won, accompanied by her father as a caddy, 2008 19th place finish at the U.S. Women's Open. In February 2012, she won her first tournament with the Women's Australian Open.
