Petrus Borel

Joseph -Pierre Borel d' Hauterive ( born June 28, 1809 in Lyon, † July 14, 1859 in Mostaganem, Algeria), called Peter Borel, was a French writer.

He belongs to the Romantic Movement. In his works he uses grotesque and deliberately shocking elements that were rediscovered by the surrealists and appreciated. Another literary contribution is the translation of the novel Robinson Crusoe by Daniel Defoe.
