Petrus Siculus

Petros Sikeliotes was a Byzantine Christian apologist of the 9th century. About his life little is known.

By his own account he was 868 by Emperor Basil I Tephrike according to John Chrysocheires, the leader of the Paulicians, sent to negotiate a prisoner exchange. His mission was unsuccessful, but he collected material about life and teaching of the movement. However, these claims are false and should give his writings only more credibility.

His authored by 850 History of the Manichaeans and the Paulicians he revised to 870 Next he wrote six speeches against the Paulicians, three of which have been preserved.
