Phaeothamniophyceae

The Phaeothamniophyceae are a class of unicellular or filamentous brown algae, which are among the Stramenopilen.

Features

The species are filiform, capsoid, palmelloid or kokkoidal. The cells are surrounded by a one-or two-part cell wall. The chloroplast has a girdle lamella. The outer membrane of the plastid is connected via the endoplasmic reticulum directly to the outer membrane of the nuclear envelope. The plastid DNA has a Genophor from the ring type. The cells have eyespots. The Plastidenpigmente are: chlorophyll a and c, fucoxanthin, Straight xanthine, Diatoxanthin and Diadinoxanthin.

Enthusiast cells have two flagella. The forward-facing carrying three -part hair that is not back. The cells have four microtubule kinetosome roots, but no Rhizoplast.

System

Within the class two orders are distinguished on the basis of molecular biological characteristics:

  • Phaeothamniales Bourrelly Family Phaeothamniaceae Phaeoschizochlamys
  • Phaeothamnion
  • Stichogloea
  • Tetrasporopsis
  • Family Pleurochloridellaceae Pleurochloridella
