Pharamond

Faramund (also Pharamond, French Pharamond ) was supposed to be a king of the Salian Franks in the 20s of the 5th century.

He was seen in the older historiography as the first Merovingian king, but is probably just a legendary figure. Only the written in the 8th century Liber historiae Francorum called the first time a king named Faramundus; he was a son of the Marcomer ( Marchamirus ) and father Chlodios.

Faramund long been regarded as the first king of the Merovingian dynasty. End of the 19th century, however, he was classified as a mythical figure. The author of the Liber Historiae Francorum summarized the first six books of the historical work of Gregory of Tours together and added it 21 Additional information, including to Faramund and Marcomir. But he had no treasury authentic information about the history of the 5th century, but it is based entirely on Gregory's information. It is also unlikely that he had knowledge of early Merovingian three centuries after the events, who forwarded as those of Gregory.
