Philharmonia Orchestra

The Philharmonia Orchestra is a symphony orchestra in London. Throughout its history, it changed hands several times the name.

After the EMI producer Walter Legge had collected together the best musicians of the United Kingdom during the Second World War, he founded the Philharmonia Orchestra in 1945 as a purely orchestral records. His "education" he put into the hands of Herbert von Karajan.

The Philharmonia Orchestra is one of the most prestigious orchestras in the world, with more than 1,000 CD and CD recordings of one of the world's most sought-after orchestra. Since 1995, the Royal Festival Hall permanent venue of the orchestra.

With the start of the 2008/09 season took Esa-Pekka Salonen, the post of chief conductor; Christoph von Dohnányi was simultaneously appointed Honorary Conductor.
