Philip Cosgrave

Philip Cosgrave († October 23, 1923 ) was an Irish politician and deputy in Dáil Éireann, the lower house of the Irish Parliament.

Cosgrave was elected in 1921 in the constituency of Dublin North - West for Sinn Féin in the second Dáil Éireann. In the elections of 1922 to the 3rd Dáil Éireann he was able to defend his position. As a Member Cosgrave was among the supporters of the Anglo -Irish Treaty. Accordingly, in 1923 he was a candidate in the constituency of Dublin South for the Cumann na nGaedheal. His death just eight weeks after he had won this election, led to the March 12, 1924 had to be held a special election for the renewal of his seat in the 4th Dáil Éireann. James O'Mara moved for him in the House of Commons.

Philip Cosgrave was the older brother of Irish politician William Thomas Cosgrave.
