Philip de Harcourt

Philip de Harcourt († 1142 ) was Lord Chancellor and Lord Keeper of England during the reign of King Stephen. As Bishop Roger of Salisbury died († 1139 ), was the king as successor Philip de Harcourt, his chancellor to use, but that failed because of the resistance of the Bishop of Winchester, Henry of Blois, and the clergy of Salisbury. Due to the dispute between the bishop's throne remained vacant up to Philips death.

Philip de Harcourt was also at the same time Dean of Beaumont and Lincoln, Bishop of Bayeux and - at least at its own pleasure - elected Bishop of Salisbury.
