Philippe de Crèvecœur d'Esquerdes

Philippe de Crèvecœur (c. 1418; † April 22, 1494 in L' Arbresle at Lyons; buried in the church of Notre-Dame in Boulogne -sur -Mer ) was Lord of Esquerdes ( Cordes ) and adviser of Duke Charles the Bold of Burgundy and later King Louis XI. of France.

Life

He grew up as the son of Jacques de Crèvecœur along with Charles the Bold at the Burgundian court, and soon became one of its more important advisers and military.

After the death of Charles in 1477, he joined the King Louis XI services. over, who confirmed him in his numerous offices in the northern French border area and gave him more as the Gouvernemente of Artois, Picardy and La Rochelle. In 1468 he was inducted into the Burgundian Order of the Golden Fleece, but in 1481 excluded from membership because of his move to France again. After moving to France, he was told by Louis XI. included in its Order of Michael.
