Philippe Francq

Philippe Francq ( born December 13, 1961 in Etterbeek, Belgium) is a Belgian comic book artist. With the series Largo Winch he reached particularly high sales figures in the French -speaking world.

After schooling Francq joined with 15 years in the Institut Saint -Luc in Brussels, where he could perfect his realistic drawing style. After a brief stop in the studio by Bob de Moor, who continued the work of Hergé, he began with the scenarist Bob de Groot serial Des villes et des femmes and moonlighted as an animator for an animation studio.

1989 met Francq on Jean Van Hamme, who sought a signatory to adapt his novel series Largo Winch in comic form. From the joint work, a series albums, including their spending to the best-selling titles in France and Belgium was born.

Philippe Francq is married and lives in southern France.

Francqs pronounced realistic drawing style has caused admiration. Critics criticize his idealized figures as well as his more artistic craftsmanship of style and accuse him of lack of creative expression.
