Philippe Jean-Charles Jourdan

Philippe Jean -Charles Jourdan ( born August 30, 1960 in Dax ) is a native of France Titular Bishop of the Roman Catholic Church. He is administrator of the Apostolic Administration of Estonia in Tallinn.

Life

Philippe Jourdan studied mathematics and engineering at the École Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées in Paris. During this time he joined the Opus Dei. The Archbishop of Boston Cardinal Bernard Francis Law ordained him priest on 20 August 1988. He was vicar general of the Apostolic Administration of Estonia in Tallinn and parochial vicar at the seat of Governorship of St. Peter and Paul 1996.

On 1 April 2005, Pope John Paul II appointed titular bishop of Pertusa and Apostolic Administrator of Estonia. He received his episcopal consecration the Apostolic Nuncio in Lithuania, Estonia and Latvia Peter Stephan Zurbriggen on 10 September of the same year; Were co-consecrators Javier Echevarría Rodríguez, Prelate of Opus Dei, and Tadeusz Kondrusiewicz, archbishop of Our Lady of Moscow. It was, after the consecration of the later Eduard Profittlich SJ 1936 Martyr, the second Catholic bishop consecration in Estonia since the Reformation, and the first since the Second World War. Jourdan speaks besides his native fluent Estonian, Russian, English, Italian, Spanish and German. His episcopal motto is Omnes cum Petro ad Jesus per Mariam - " All with Peter to Jesus through Mary ."
