Philippe Starck is not trying to provoke with his works. He designs mainly counter products that are also inexpensive compared with other designers. He uses mainly organic forms and streamlined shapes for his work and likes to combine unusual materials (for example, plush and chrome). In his books and catalogs he uses his photo portrait of happy as advertising and does not mind, even to appear as an object.

One of the most well-known product design is the one-piece, rocket -shaped lemon squeezer Juicy Salif (1990 ) made of aluminum for the Italian manufacturer Alessi. She was internationally respected and quickly occupied by terms such as " design classic ". The focus was not the functional qualities as lemon squeezer: The pointed feet burrow into the worktop and there is no strainer to catch the seeds.

Other well-known works are the motorcycle Moto 6.5 of the manufacturer Aprilia, faucets and shower collections for Axor, the designer brand of Hansgrohe AG, Starck Eyes eyewear by Alain Mikli, a shoe collection with the sportswear manufacturer Puma, sanitary ware at Duravit bathtubs at Hoesch, the chair / the Bubble Club sofa and armchair Louis Ghost by Kartell, Flos lamps at or a computer mouse for Microsoft, which is suitable for both left- and right-handed. In 2008 he presented a windmill and a modular shower collection at the International Furniture Fair in Milan. The motor yacht A was designed in 2008 by Starck.

By his own admission his design principle is the principle of reduction, or " ethics of omission ", he avoids any unnecessary decoration.

On April 13, 2012 Starck announced in a radio interview that he is currently, working on a his own words, "revolutionary" product for Apple.

Interior Design

Even when designing interiors to Starck has made a name, not least through his work for the former French President Francois Mitterrand, and again set trends. For example, with his concept of the "Salon d' eau" from 1994, which he has implemented in cooperation with Axor / Hansgrohe, Duravit and Hoesch with the aim of " this space to rethink the place where you have fun, where one recovers, where you talk to the love of his life ".

The project developer John Hitchcox Starck sells since 1999 under the brand Yoo worldwide residential properties.
