Philolaus (crater)

Philolaus is an impact crater on the moon on the northwestern edge of the moon 's front panel. It has a diameter of 70 kilometers and is well preserved. To the west lies the crater Anaximenes and north of the crater Anaxagoras. The rim is heavily terraced. Inside the crater there are two key surveys.

The crater was named in 1935 by the IAU by the pre-Socratic Greek philosopher Philolaus.
