Philon

Philo of Eleusis was a Greek architect in the second half of the 4th century BC

Two buildings are attributed to Philo in ancient literature: first, the built 347-329 BC large arsenal ship, which Skeuothek, the port of Athens, Piraeus, and the v. 317-307 BC attached porch on Telesterion of Eleusis. Philo seems both practical architect as to be it architectural theorist, because he had written a treatise on the proportions of the Greek temple and leave comments on his construction of the Skeuothek. Both - now lost - writings are mentioned by Vitruvius, which allocates also the Vorhallenbau on Telesterion the Philo. According to Cicero, Philo is with great eloquence, not so much because Cicero attributed to its ability as an architect as a speaker, who explained the theory of his buildings.
