Cliff Date Palm (Phoenix rupicola )

The Cliff Date Palm (Phoenix rupicola ) is a small to medium sized, beheimate palm in India. It grows on steep slopes, cliffs between rocks and in ravines.

Description

It is similar to Phoenix roebelenii, but has a more robust trunk and long leaves. Normally a Cliff date palm grows 8 feet in the air. Its fruits are decorative purple.

Use

The Cliff date palm is cultivated less frequently than other Phoenix species and is found only rarely in tropical and subtropical regions as garden palm.
