Phoenix (son of Amyntor)

Phoinix ( Greek: Φοῖνιξ phoinix ) is an ancient mythological figure. He was a son of the king and his wife Amyntor Kleobule. Because Amyntor loved concubine, Phoinix seduced at the instigation of his mother, the beloved of his father, to dissuade them from it. As Amyntor cursed his son so on childlessness, he fled to Phthia to Peleus.

He took part in the Calydonian hunt, and was Achilles ' tutor (next to the centaur Cheiron ), later he was his advisor. He drove Odysseus to Skyros to induce Achilles to participate in the Trojan War. Before Troy however, he had no success when he tried to move as a member of Bittgesandtschaft ( Presbeia ) Achilles to intervene again in the fight.
