Specialists in physical and rehabilitation medicine usually work in rehabilitation clinics. The training period is five years and includes in addition to three years in this field and one year each in internal medicine and surgery.

In Austria is the job title " Physical Medicine and General Rehabilitation ". The course includes 4 years in actual department (major) and two years in the following minors: 1 year internal medicine, neurology, 6 months, 3 months and 3 months orthopedic trauma surgery.
