Strip abdominal Tachurityrann ( Anairetes reguloides )

The strip abdominal Tachurityrann ( Anairetes reguloides ) or sometimes Streifentachuri is a species of bird in the family of Tachurityrannen ( Anairetes ). This species has a large distribution area, which is limited to the countries of Peru and Chile. The stock is assessed by the IUCN as endangered not (Least Concern ).

Features

The strip abdominal Tachurityrann reaches a body length of about 11.5 centimeters. The lower mandible and the base of the upper mandible of the male are pale, while the rest of the upper beak is fleischrot. The top is black with distinctive white stripes. The black comb is outlined in white. The neck and the significant mean Kronensaum are colored white. The wings have two white transverse bands and patterns. The tail has white spots, which are formed on the inner webs of the outer control spring having 4 to 5 mm at its thickest and become smaller towards the inside. The outer webs of the outer tail feathers are white. The blacks in the apex, bridle, and the lateral head portion is traversed by the throat of indistinct white stripes. The remaining bottom includes light lead- Yellow dyes, and is also traversed along the sides and the chest of black stripes. The abdominal area lacks the stripes.

The female resembles the male, but has a much shorter crest. The black and white of the back and the wing is replaced by a dark color with light yellow-brown. The apex and the sides of the head are crossed by indistinct white bars. Under the eye there is a white half-ring. The plumage of the underside similar in color to that of the male.

In young birds, the back is dark brown with tan stripes. The Yellow Brown of rein before the eye is transformed back into strips, then on the lower part of the sides of the head and the semi-circle under the eye again yellow-brown. The bottom looks a little brighter with a dark breast band and lateral stripes, but do not necessarily stand out in the field.

Distribution and habitat

They move in the banks thicket, Polylepis scrub and mixed shrubs typical Loma vegetation at altitudes of sea level to 2900 meters. However, they were observed at Quebrada Matará in the Cordillera Blanca even in 4200 meters altitude.

Behavior

The behavior of the bird is similar to the Black Hood Tachurityrannen ( Anairetes nigrocristatus ). Occasionally they follow mixed flocks of birds and you can then discover, for example, along with Cory's Tachurityrannen ( Anairetes flavirostris ). The song is a long quivering trrrrr. Often they give loud decreasing series of catcalls from him.

Subspecies

There are described two subspecies, which differ mainly in their coloring and their area of ​​distribution:

  • Anairetes reguloides reguloides ( Orbigny & Lafresnaye, 1837) The nominate form is represented by the region of Ancash Ica over to the West Apurímacs. However, there is only one report of Apurimac.
  • Anairetes reguloides albiventris ( Chapman, 1924) This subspecies is similar to the nominate race but has only little to no yellow in the plumage. The entire abdominal area is white or almost white instead of bright yellow lead. The hem of the feathers of the upper surface lacks the yellow tint. The tail is slightly longer than in the nominate. This subspecies occurs in the southwest of Peru from the south of Ayacucho region to the south Tacnas and the extreme north-west of Chile in the Región de Arica y Parinacota ago.
