Pierre Gabaye

Pierre Gabaye ( born February 20, 1930 in Paris, † 2000) was a French composer.

Gabaye studied at the Conservatoire de Paris with Simone Plé - Caussade and Tony Aubin and won in 1956 with the cantata Le Mariage forcé by Molière the First Second Grand Prix de Rome. Around the same time he received the First Prize for Composition Concours des moins de 20 ans of Le Guide du Concert, twice the first prize of organized by Radio Television France Concours de musique symphonique légère, the first audience and jury award of Concert Referendum Pasdeloup and the first prize in piano at the Concours international de jazz.

From 1970 to 1995 he headed the department of light music for Radio France, besides, he taught at the conservatory of Vésinet. The main part of his compositional work, which in addition to chamber music and works and symphonies, developed in the 1950s and 1960s. His last composition Marche pommarde dates from the year 1988.
