Pierre-Marie Dupuy

Pierre -Marie Dupuy ( born October 5, 1946 in Paris ) is a French lawyer. He is since 1981 professor at the University Panthéon- Assas, where it is optional since 2000, and was from 2000 to 2008 Professor of International Law at the European University Institute in Florence. Since 2008 he has held the same position at the Geneva Graduate Institute of International Studies.

Life

Pierre -Marie Dupuy was born in 1946 as son of the international law expert René -Jean Dupuy and graduated from the Institut d' études politiques de Paris, which he completed in 1969. He also graduated from the University of Paris in the same year a diploma in public law and a year later in political science. In 1974 he obtained the doctorate and the Agrégation, the authority for teaching in secondary schools in France.

He then served as a professor at the Universities of Strasbourg and Paris Val -de- Marne, and from 1981 at the University Panthéon- Assas, where it is optional since 2000. Between 1988 and 2000 he was also at times at the European University Institute in Florence works, where he held a professorship of International Law 2000-2008. Since 2008 he is professor of international law at the Geneva Graduate Institute of International Studies. He also worked as a visiting professor at the University of Michigan, at the Universities of Tokyo and Kyoto, at the Complutense University of Madrid and the Ludwig -Maximilians- University of Munich. In 1984 and 2000 he taught at the Hague Academy of International Law.

Pierre -Marie Dupuy is a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the journal Revue Générale de Droit International Public, and was a founding member of the European Journal of International Law. He also worked as a consultant or representative of different states, in addition to his native country, among others Equatorial Guinea, Benin, Germany, Finland, Honduras, Croatia, Mali, Mexico, Portugal, Spain, Tunisia and Hungary, before the International Court of Justice in The Hague. He has also served as a consultant to the OECD, the United Nations Environment Programme, the Bureau International des Expositions, UNESCO and Eutelsat.
