Pierre Quantin

Pierre Quantin ( born June 19, 1759 in Fervaques; † February 7, 1824 in Coutances ) was a French general of division artillery.

Life

Until the Revolution Quantin served in the Royal Navy. During the reign of terror, he joined the army and was early to the trailer of Napoleon.

With 36 years Quantin 1795 was appointed General and served on the staff of General Gabriel d' Hédouville. He later moved to General Lazare Hoche with which he could down the revolt in the Vendée successful; later as successful against the Chouannerie.

From 1797 General Quantin was then entrusted in Nimes later in Aix -en- Provence with military- administrative tasks. In 1801 he joined General Charles Leclerc d' Ostiņš army and fought in Saint- Domingue ( Hispaniola ) against Toussaint Louverture. After the failure of this invasion and the death Ostiņš Quantin returned early in 1803 returned to France.

Then he was stationed for several years in Belle- Ile -en- Mer. In 1811 he retired and settled in Coutances down. He died at the age of 64 years on February 7, 1824 and found his final resting place.
