Pierre Robert (composer)

Pierre Robert ( * 1618 in Louvres, † December 30, 1699 in Paris) was a French composer and conductor of the Baroque.

Life

Pierre Robert, who came from a middle-class Parisian family, was trained as a chorister at the Cathedral Notre- Dame de Paris cathedral. He studied in addition to the music, theology and was ordained a priest. His first position as Kapellmeister he had from 1648 at the Cathedral of Senlis, two years later he was Kapellmeister at the Cathedral of Chartres.
