Pietro Cataldi

Pietro Antonio Cataldi ( born April 15, 1548 Bologna, † February 11, 1626 ) was an Italian mathematician.

Cataldi taught 1569/70 at the Art Academy of Florence, mathematics at the University of Perugia and from 1572 at the Academy of Fine Arts and from 1584 in Bologna ( probably at the Art Academy ).

1613 Pietro Cataldi published a book in the first chain breaks occur ( Trattato del modo brevissimo ..). He was also in 1620, 1625 and 1626, the works of Euclid and published in 1603 a treatise in which he falsely said to have proved the parallel postulate.
