Pietro di Giacomo Cataneo

Pietro Cataneo (* 1510 probably in Siena, † 1569 or 1574 ) was an Italian Renaissance architect, mathematician and military engineer.

Cataneo was a pupil of Baldassare Peruzzi ( 1481-1536 ). He is primarily known for his work I Quattro Libri Primi di Architettura ( 1554 ), which deals with the design of fortified towns, churches and civil architecture. The work has mainly influenced Andrea Palladio.
