Pietro Domenico Paradisi

Pietro Domenico Paradisi (also known under the name Pier Domenico Paradies ) (* 1707 in Naples, † August 25 1791 in Venice) was an Italian composer and teacher.

Life

He was probably a pupil of Nicola Antonio Porpora and wrote his first compositions for the theater. 1746 he moved to London, where he worked as a teacher of singing and harpsichord. In 1770 he returned to Italy.

Compositions

Its meaning he owes his compositions for harpsichord.

His style was influenced by Alessandro and Domenico Scarlatti. We are especially famous for its 12 Sonatas for Harpsichord ( London 1754). From the Sonata VI, better known as Toccata is still often played on harp, for example, as the theme song in the Italian television RAI.

He has written numerous pieces for organ, harpsichord, arias and cantatas.
