Pilatus P-5

The Pilatus P-5 was a single-engine aircraft manufacturer Pilatus Aircraft, which does not make it past the planning stage.

The design of the Pilatus P-5 was created in 1951. Was commissioned by the Federal Military Department (EMD ). It was a single-engine two-seat high-wing monoplane with fixed spur wheel chassis, which should serve to combat and artillery observation. It was intended to build the hull of a steel tube frame and disguise with sheet metal, on the other hand run the wings and the tail as material strung light metal frame. For the fixed wing slats and flaps were provided. Pilot and observer were in the generously glazed cabin has an extraordinarily good visibility in all directions, thanks to curved side firmer also vertically downwards. It remained, however, only in the project design and a prototype was built.
