Pink Fairies

The Pink Fairies were a British rock band.

Band History

The band went out in London in 1969 from the remaining members of the rock band The Deviants.

In July 1970, accompanied Deviants ( Russ Hunter, Paul Rudolph - Guitar, and Duncan Sanderson - Bass ) singer and drummer Twink (actually: John Alder, ex- The Pretty Things ) on the LP " Think Pink ". The four decided to go on together, and called themselves "Pink Fairies ". " Your reputation as drug users with inviting lifestyle spread faster than the knowledge of their music until they received a recording contract with Polydor. " ( "Their reputation for drug -taking and general debauchery spread faster than knowledge of Their music, Until They secured a contract with Polydor ... ").

After a single and an LP on Polydor Twink but again went his way, and jumped for another LP Trevor Burton ( formerly of The Move) a - "What a Bunch of Sweeties " even reached number 48 in the UK album charts. In 1972, singer and guitarist Larry Wallis joined the band; as a trio ( Wallis / Sanderson / Hunter) they brought the LP " Kings of Oblivion" out, but without commercial success.

"Together with Hawkwind they were the kings of the benefit concert - ie they played for hippies with no money to get it. A brief reunion there was a concert at London's Roundhouse in 1975. A recording of the concert was released in 1982 by Chiswick Records LP.

Larry Wallis founded in parallel ( with Lemmy of Hawkwind ), the band Motörhead, but she left after the first album. He went to Stiff Records, where he brought together the Pink Fairies once again for a Single, with Martin Stone for Rudolph. Twink collected for a solo EP in 1977 again Rudolph, Sanderson and Hunter as a backing band around.

In 1984, Farren, Wallis and Sanderson with Wayne Kramer and George Butler as The Deviants on tour, a live album was the result. 1987, there was finally time again, the Pink Fairies revive - this time with Larry Wallis, guitar and vocals; Andy Colquhoun, guitar; Duncan Sanderson, bass and vocals; and the two drummers Twink and Russell Hunter. Result: the album " Kill ' em & Eat' em".
