Pink Martini

Pink Martini is a twelve -piece band from Portland, Oregon. Brought together were the musicians in 1994 by Thomas M. Lauderdale.

1997 their first album Sympathique was released on her own label, Heinz Records. About 650,000 units were sold worldwide, individual pieces were released and found their place on various compilations such as Buddha Bar The album is based on very music of the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s, but fits well into the modern easy-listening and bar Music track. The most famous song of this album is Sympathique ( " je ne veux pas travailler ...").

After the European debut at the Cannes Film Festival, the band went on an extensive tour around the world.

Their second album, Hang On Little Tomato was released in October 2004. The concert with the presentation of the new CD was sold out in a flash and Pink Martini decided to play a second presentation show.

Unlike the first album where singer China Forbes has sung only a few numbers, it is the main voice in the second album. In addition Sympathique largely of gecoverten pieces, Hang On Little Tomato is, however, entirely of original compositions by Lauderdale and Forbes. Due to a vocal cord surgery China Forbes paused from mid-2011 on for about a year. After her return, she reduced her performances with Pink Martini and shared the role of lead singer with Storm Large, from which they had been represented during her illness break. In 2013, the singing of Large while touring in Germany was enthusiastically received by the audience.

Pink Martini pieces can be heard more often in films and series such as The Sopranos.
