The valley of the Río Pinturas near Perito Moreno

The Río Pinturas is an Argentine river in the Patagonian province of Santa Cruz, with a total length of 150 kilometers. He is the most important tributary of the Río Deseado. The Río Pinturas rises in the Andes, more precisely in small Monte Zeballos Massif ( 2,743 meters above sea level), located just south of Lake Buenos Aires. He turns first to the East, where he about a hundred kilometers long carries the name Río Ecker. Then it flows north towards Río Deseado, by traversing a magnificent mountain gorge, where the famous Cueva de las Manos is located, classified as a World Heritage Site.
