Piotr Perkowski

Piotr Perkowski ( born March 4, 1901 in Oweczacze, today Druschne, Ukraine, † August 12 1990 in Otwock ) was a Polish composer.

Perkowski studied at the Music Academy in Warsaw at Karol Szymanowski and in Paris with Albert Roussel. He ran until 1933, the Society of Friends of symphonic music and worked thereafter at the Conservatory of Toruń. After 1945 he was a teacher of composition in Warsaw and Wrocław. Among his pupils included Piotr Moss and Jerzy Maksymiuk.

Perkowski wrote a radio opera (Girl Andy, 1961) and five ballets, sketches from Toruń for orchestra, a Dramatic Symphony and Scottish Impressions, as well as songs and a song cycle, a cantata and two violin concertos.
