Pisang Ambon
Pisang Ambon is a Dutch fruit liqueur with 21 % alcohol.
The recipe of the liqueur is originally from Indonesia but was brought in 1948 by a soldier in the Netherlands. After some changes to the formulation he was driven first by the distillery Levert & Co. Today Pisang Ambon by Lucas Bols is made.
The liqueur is green and tastes mostly of banana, added the taste of herbs and spices. It is mostly used as a cocktail ingredient.
The word Pisang means banana, liqueur has nothing to do with the green banana that thrives on the island of Ambon.
