Pittheus

Pittheus (Greek Πιτθεύς ) In Greek mythology, the king of Troizen; Son of Pelops and Hippodamia and owner of the best wine in Greece.

He was famous for his wisdom and a good friend of Aegeus, king of Athens, which he revealed on his return from the Apollo oracle at Delphi the meaning of the oracle, which promised the descendants of Aegeus great power in Athens. Pittheus Aegeus gave his daughter Aethra to wife so that he could testify to his long- hoped-for heir to the throne with her. From their love of the hero Theseus came out.

Pittheus raised his grandson in Troizen while Aegeus returned to Athens.
