Planet X (Band)

Planet X is an American fusion - metal band.

History

Derek Sherinian and Virgil Donati were already working together on Sherinians published 1999 solo album Planet X and decided later that year to form a band. As a solid guitarist Tony MacAlpine they found. The bass was played live and on albums over the years by many guest musicians and MacAlpine since 2004, the band left remain Sherinian and Donati as the only fixed members of the ensemble. According Sherinian was his intention to found a group whose members " play their instruments so much that they bring through their game fear into the hearts of other musicians ."

After Sherinians statement Planet X is the first " Metal Fusion " band, which has its headquarters in Southern California.

The new CD Quantum appeared in German-speaking countries on May 18, 2007.

Style

The music of Planet X is exclusively instrumental. There are often dissonance and crooked bars used. Also polyrhythms is more common, for example in the piece Midnight Bell in the places, keyboard and drums in a different time signature to play than the guitar.
