Platon Maiboroda

Plato Ilarionowytsch Majboroda (Ukrainian Платон Іларіонович Майборода; born December 1, 1918 in Pelachivschyna; † July 8, 1989 in Kiev ) was a Soviet and Ukrainian composer. Since 1968 he has held the title People's Artist of Ukraine and since 1979 a folk artist of the USSR. He was 1962 winner of the Taras Shevchenko Prize. His brother Georgiy Majboroda was also a composer.

Plato Majboroda (today a village of Poltava oblast ) was born in a country house. In the years 1939-1941 he studied at the National Music Academy of Ukraine Peter Tchaikovsky, where Lyovko Rewuzkyj was his tutor. In the years 1946-1950 he worked as a professor at the academy. He joined as a writer of modern folk music and lyrical music in appearance. He also created choral music and film music.
