Pleurotus pulmonarius

Lung oyster ( Pleurotus pulmonarius )

The lung oyster ( Pleurotus pulmonarius ), also spoon -shaped oyster or summer oyster oyster, is a species of fungus in the family Seitlingsartigen. He is closely related to the oyster oyster, could be detected by crossing experiments that the lung oyster is a distinct species.

Features

Macroscopic characteristics

The lung oyster is very similar to the related oyster oyster, as in this the fruiting bodies appear in dense clusters on the substrate, wherein the fruiting bodies of the lung Seitling are smaller and more delicate than the oyster sideways. The stem is short, to rudimentary, the slats run far down on the stem, where they crosslink meshy. The top of the lung pleurotus is lighter colored than the oyster oyster, the color ranges from creamy white to light beige, sometimes gray to brownish. In contrast to the oyster oyster lung oyster smells when fresh sweet anise.

Microscopic characteristics

Microscopically, the lung Seitling thick-walled cells of the lamellae and a Huthautstärke 40-50 microns ( oyster oyster 90-120 microns ).

Ecology and phenology

The lung is a Seitling Saprobiont and weak parasite on various hardwoods; as substrates are listed beech, ash, poplar, birch, walnut and Sorbus species. He lives like the oyster oyster ground and humid forests, but also occurs outside of forests to the appropriate substrate. In contrast to the oyster oyster lung Seitling needed to trigger any cold stimulus to the fructification, it is therefore found also in summer and early fall.

Dissemination

The lung Seitling is widespread in the Holarctic, it is specified for Australia, Krieglsteiner calls into question whether it is indigenous reserves. In Europe, the lung Seitling in northern areas ( Hebrides, Scandinavia ) is significantly more frequent than in the western and southern areas. In Germany the lung oyster is widely distributed before the entire area. For information about the distribution is to be noted that it is probably often confused with the oyster oyster.

Importance

The lung is edible oyster, as a timber or forest pest it is not important.
