Plurinational Legislative Assembly

The National Congress (Spanish Congreso Nacional) is the legislative branch of Bolivia. It has its headquarters in La Paz, the seat of government. The National Congress is a bicameral legislature consisting of the Chamber of Deputies ( Cámara de Deputies ) and the Senate ( Cámara de Senadores or Senado ). The Senate has 27 members, three representatives for each department. Two of the three senators are appointed by that party, the relative majority of the vote in elections to the Senate, Senator the third is sent by the party with the second most votes. The House of Representatives has 130 members, of which each one is selected as a direct mandate in the 68 electoral districts. The remaining 62 members are elected from national party lists under a proportional representation.

Building

The two houses of Congress meet in the Legislative Palace at the Plaza Murillo, the main square of La Paz against the Government Palace.

Before the Legislative Palace was used as the seat of Congress, were in building a monastery and a university.
