Plymouth-Banjul Challenge

The Plymouth - Banjul Challenge is an annual car rally for charity that runs through Europe and Africa. It was first launched in December 2002 as the Plymouth -Dakar Challenge, and has been held since the year 2005 under the name Plymouth - Banjul Challenge.

General

The Challenge was developed by Julian Nowill in 2001. It roughly follows the route of the famous Paris-Dakar Rally, crossing as many countries. The route of the rally leads within 22 days from Plymouth on the south coast of Britain through France and Spain to Gibraltar. Then, on the northwest coast of Africa along by Morocco, Western Sahara and Mauritania. After the Senegal southward crosses, continue to Banjul, capital of Gambia.
