Plymstock

Plymstock is a suburb of Plymouth, located in the English county of Devon, UK. According to a census in 2001 Plymstock has 24 103 inhabitants.

History

The city's name comes from the Anglo-Saxon and means something like " Holy place at the River Plym " which in turn is named after the neighboring village of Plympton. Plymstock is located on the eastern shore of the Plym river and is geographically and historically part of the South Hams. The South Hams except Plymstock including the neighboring communities Billacombe, Elburton, Goosewell, Hooe, Mountbatten, Oreston, Pomphlett, Staddiscombe and Turnchapel. According to legend, the spirits of monks at the nearby Childe 's tomb to hang around and draw a bier with it.
