Poggenpohl

Poggenpohl is a German kitchen furniture manufacturer based in the Westphalian town of Herford, in North Rhine -Westphalia. The company is one of the oldest kitchen brand in Germany and produced exclusively in Herford.

History

In 1892 the master carpenter Fried Poggenpohl founded ( born August 7, 1859 in Hoerde in Dortmund, † August 4, 1924 in Herford ) a carpentry firm with attached furniture store in Bielefeld. Five years later the company moved in 1897 to the neighboring Herford.

• In collaboration with Luigi Colani and the Institute for Environmental Physiology was created in 1970 the " experiment 70 ", the futuristic study of a spherical kitchen.

• In the new millennium succeeded Poggenpohl in collaboration with renowned designers such as Jorge Pensi, Porsche Design Zell am See or Hadi Teherani to develop kitchen concepts that connect the living area with the kitchen space as a whole.

When Walter Ludewig 1987 at the age of 77 years retired from the company, he sold the company to a Swedish group. After two more changes of ownership, Poggenpohl furniture Werke GmbH is since 2000 part of the Swedish kitchen Nobia Group AB. Since September 2011, Lars Voelkel leads as managing the Herford kitchen manufacturer. In September 2012, the company celebrated its 120th anniversary.

Production and concepts

All Poggenpohl kitchens are produced exclusively at the company headquarters in Herford. The kitchen models are distinguished according Segmento Modo Artesio and the Poggenpohl Porsche Design kitchen P'7340. The numerous approaches have already been awarded many international awards.

Markets

The market was initially limited only to the domestic market. From the late 1950s, we began to export to neighboring countries. End of the 60s, the sale has expanded to eleven European countries. In the 80s, Poggenpohl was already represented in 41 countries and in 1989 an export share of 46%.

Today Poggenpohl kitchens through approximately 450 distributors worldwide, of which about 100, sold in Germany. There are also 35 own sales Studios, seven in Germany and eight in the UK. Poggenpohl has locations in more than 70 countries, including China, Japan, India, Australia, New Zealand, the USA, Kenya, United Arab Emirates as well as the nearly all European countries.
