Poggersdorf ( Slow Pokrče ) is a municipality with 3053 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) in the district of Klagenfurt-Land in Carinthia.

Geography

Geographical location

Poggersdorf located on the eastern edge of the field or the Klagenfurt Klagenfurt level, the eponymous central space of the Klagenfurt basin, about 10 km east of Klagenfurt. In the north and west, the municipality is mostly limited by the Gurk, Gurk in the south between bridge and Greuth by the packers road.

The municipality is divided into four cadastral Leibsdorf ( Ličja vas ), Lens Mount ( Lečja gora ), Pubersdorf ( Pobreže ) and St. Michael whether the Gurk ( Slovenji Šmihel ) divided. History

The eastern field Klagenfurt ( Klagenfurt level) was Domination and power politics strongly mixed over the centuries. In the early and high Middle Ages, the original Carantanian Edlinger formed here an influential, legally privileged class between the nobility and the peasantry with its own court system, such as the later reign Eibelhof / Ovčjak or Wutschein / Bučinja vas from which partially emerged Katastralgemeinden.

The municipality was part in the formation of local churches in Carinthia in 1850 to District Court Maria Saal. This year, the church of St. Michael Windisch, which changed its name in 1896 in Poggersdorf constituted. In the municipality of structural reform in 1973 a part of Hörtendorf was incorporated into Poggersdorf.

The municipal area was dominated for centuries by farming, in recent decades, Poggersdorf has developed due to its proximity to the state capital to residential and commuter community.

Population

According to 2001 census Poggersdorf has 2,850 inhabitants, of which 97.8 % have Austrian citizenship. 87.5 % of the population are Roman Catholic and 2.9 % for the Protestant Church, 0.7 % are Muslim faith. 6.2 % have no religious confession.

The parish church of Poggersdorf and the affiliated churches of Wutschein, Wabelsdorf and eggs village are guided bilingual ( German - Slovenian).

The community Poggersdorf ( Pokrče ) is one historically the Slovenian dialect area of the Klagenfurt field ( Polyansky govor oz. Poljanščina Celovškega Polya ) ), which is a transitional dialect between the Slovenian dialects of Jauntals ( podjunščina ) and the Rose Valley ( rožanščina ). As a special variant of the Slovenian dialect Rosental already has him Johann Scheinigg 1882 identified, which could be confirmed in the dialectological study by Katja Sturm- Schnabl the basis of field research. Scheinigg divided in his work " The assimilation ... " the Slovenian dialect Rosental in three geographical areas: The Lower Rosental Rosental the Upper and Klagenfurt level. On this latter area, he said: " ... Peasant Architecture

The character of the typical residential building in this area is on the one hand eingeschoßige Vollwalmhaus and on the other hand, the double-decker " Stöckl ". Coat of arms

In the coat of arms of Poggersdorf, the green shield ground on the agricultural character of the village, towards the fallen black lace on the coal and steel industry ( Notburgastraße hut) and the one-time mining of peat in Raunachmoos. The pillar shrine pictured in black lace is typical of the municipality, shrines of this type can be found in Wabelsdorf, eggs village, on the mountain and in the lens Raunachmoos. Lance and shepherds top symbolize the defense capacity and the rural labor force of karantanisch -Slovenian Edlinger, who played an important role in the region for a long time. The pliers finally stands for the production of iron in the Notburgastraße hut.

Coat of arms and flag of the municipality Poggersdorf were presented on 13 February 1996. The flag is green-yellow with integrated crest.
