Pogorzela, Opole Voivodeship

Pogorzela ( German: Pogarell ) is a village in the Polish rural community Olszanka ( Alzenau ) in the powiat Brzeski of the Opole Voivodeship.

Geography

Historically Pogorzela is in the easternmost part of Lower Silesia. Today, the site of the Opole Voivodeship belongs to, in the western part - about 8 kilometers southeast of Brzeg and about 30 km northwest of Opole - it is located. Pogorzela is to reach 10 km away from the A4 motorway.

History

The name of Pogarell points to the close relationship with the Knights of Pogarell, who held the lordship over Pogarell and other places in the area.
