Pol-e Dokhtar

Pol-e Pol-e Dokhtar also Dochtar (Persian پلدختر ) is a district and a city in the Iranian province of Lorestan. The city has 2012 23.240 inhabitants by extrapolation. The name goes back to a famous bridge over the river Kaschkan that combines shortly after this bridge with the Seymare the Karkheh. The Persian name means bridge of the daughter and is partially interpreted that the Sassanid king Shapur I. Structure of tribe and his daughter was dedicated.

The 270 meter long bridge over the river wall once with nine pillars. Besides pillar remains in the river bed today, but there is the bridge ramp on the right bank and a bridge arch on the left bank, which spans the busy street of Khorramabad to Dezful. The height of this arch is 17 meters, the width of the bridge 9 meters.

Near the bridge still remains of a bridge from the time of the Achaemenids, which was part of the east-west axis of the Persian King Street exist.
