Police of the Czech Republic

In the Czech Republic exist when police organizations, the Police of the Czech Republic ( Policie České Republiky ), the local police forces ( obecní policie or Městská policie ) and the military police ( Vojenská policie ).

Police of the Czech Republic ( Policie České Republiky, PCR) is the state police in the Czech Republic. The current Chief of Police is Petr Lessy. The motto of the police is " Pomáhat a chránit " (helping and protecting ). The police can be reached at the emergency call number 158 or € 112 number.

History

Police of the Czech Republic was created on 15 July 1991 by the new law No 283/ 1991 Sb on the Police of the Czech Republic from the former Veřejná bezpečnost ( Public Safety ), a portion of the Sbor národní bezpečnosti ( National Security Corps ). Officials Veřejná were bezpečnost transferred to the new police. The other portion of the Sbor národní bezpečnosti - the communist secret police Státní bezpečnost ( State Security ), was disbanded shortly after the Velvet Revolution, by order of the Minister of the Interior on February 1, 1990. The police work in public service.

On 1 January 2009 a police reform was implemented by the new Police Act No. 273/2008 Coll. It originated as including further six regional police directorates.

Order

Structure

The Policie ČR is subordinate to the Czech Ministry of Interior and is composed of departments ( Utvar ). The police departments are:

Ranks

The President of the Czech Republic on a proposal to the Government a Director of the Security Corps, the Deputy Chairman or a director of a portion of the security corps to the rank of brigadier general ( brigádní general), rise lieutenant general ( generálporučík ) or Major General ( generálmajor ).

Equipment

Today, mainly vehicles of the manufacturer Škoda Auto are used: Škoda Felicia Combi, Skoda Fabia Combi and Škoda Octavia. Older vehicles by type Felicia and Fabia are replaced by vehicles of the Škoda Octavia 1.6 ( 75 kW) and 1.8 ( 118 kW) in new silver blue design, formerly white-green.

The traffic police uses Škoda Octavia RS 2.0 ( 147 kW ) Ford Mondeo ST220 3.0 (166 kW), civilian VW Passat VR6 3.6 (221 ​​kW) for the prosecution of speeders, Yamaha Motorcycles ( 600 and 1300 cm ³) and VW Transporter 3.2 (173 kW).

The flight service is equipped with helicopters of the type EC 135 T2, Bell 412 and Bell 412 HP EP. He also ensured the Prague site in continuous operation, one of ten air rescue stations in the Czech Republic.

Communal police

The municipal police ( obecní policie, Městská policie in cities - city police ) is a body of the municipality and is built by the local council, which also bears the costs of the operation of the unit; workers are employees of the municipality. She is responsible for public order in the municipality. The municipal police is headed by the mayor or by another member of the municipal council.
