The PI at the police met the classic work of the police with an original locally - matter jurisdiction for a protected zone by the respective police organization regulations. In North Rhine- Westphalia, the grassroots organization is the district police authorities ( District Office or in the independent city police headquarters ); own municipal police does not exist there.

Over-and subordination relationships

In Lower Saxony, the police departments are placed under five to six police stations. In total there are 33 in Lower Saxony inspections. Exceptions are alone Brandenburg, North Rhine -Westphalia and Saarland, which instead have set up protection zones, police districts and police district inspection as a means authorities. The technical supervision leads the competent Police Headquarters / Regional Council; Saarland police district leads the technical supervision, in North-Rhine Westphalia is incumbent on the five county governments.

The PIs implied ( optional) are the police stations (eg in Lower Saxony) police stations, special guards and police stations or police stations and main ( Mecklenburg- Vorpommern) police stations. Subunits are the service groups that the police sections (see above) are directly affiliated, for example, the city state of Berlin.

In the German capital every police section is a separate " patrol VB " ( Crime ) associated with the ( so-called " civilian investigators " ) includes each about ten posts. These specially trained members of the uniformed police provided their duties in civilian clothes, if possible in three-to four-person teams use. The " patrol VB " fought all offenses, from the pursuit of a bicycle thief up to the volatile bank robbers or drug dealers.

In certain cases, or layers, eg use of foreign forces or at meetings or events, the PIs are also other organizational units subordinate ( issuing and authority ).
