Political Film Society

The Political Film Society is a non-profit organization that was founded in 1986 in Honolulu as a project of the Hawaii Political Studies Association. The headquarters was moved to Hollywood in 1998.

The Political Film Society honors films with politically valuable content, including in the categories of democracy, human rights and peace.

In the annual general meeting, an existing three-person executive committee is elected. These three individuals, in turn, select the Director-General (CEO). Michael Haas has since its founding CEO of the organization.

Since 1987, the Political Film Society annually awards films with the Political Film Society Awards, which are also known under the name Stanley Awards.
