The village has a Polish appearance and has, for example a Roman Catholic church, including graveyard. The settlers built their village by indigenous species with half-timbered houses and walled gardens, in which they planted familiar fruit trees and shrubs. The inhabitants of Polonez lived a long time from the sale of pork products which were very popular among the non-Muslim population of Istanbul, since pork in Muslim Turkey was difficult to access otherwise. Today, however, occurs more and more tourism to the fore, because Polonez is considered among the Turks as " the most exotic village in Turkey ". The inhabitants cherished to this day their Polish language.
