Poltringen is a district of Ammerbuch in the district of Tübingen, in the middle of Baden- Württemberg.

Coat of arms

The coat of arms of Poltringen shows in silver on green Dreienberg a standing, rotbezungten black boar and about a five-petalled red rose. The coat of arms was valid until the founding of bunting book in 1971.

History

The oldest traces of settlement of Roman farms were found in Poltringen ground. A Roman road, which later became known as King Street or Ammer valley road, led by Sumelocenna (now Rottenburg ) about Unterjesingen, Poltringen, Reusten and Altingen to Herrenberg and continue to Portus (now Pforzheim ). From 84-260 AD, the Ammer Valley was ruled by the Romans, before they were ousted by the Alemanni, who settled in the 3rd century.

Probably in the 5th or 6th century, the village was formed at its current location. The village has long been in the possession of the Counts of Nagold and later its successor, the Earl of Tübingen. It was attached by a castle. 1293 sold the Count Palatine of Tübingen their possessions to the monastery Bebenhausen. There was also a rich direct manor, which was not under the monastery in Poltringen.

For the first time in 1426 by a convention called by Franziskanerterziarinnen in Poltringen which existed at the " Upper Church ", the Church of St. Stephen. This burned from 1647, after the buildings were indeed rebuilt, but were from 1665 yet.

After the dissolution of the monastery Bebenhausen in the Reformation Poltringen reached a third in the possession Württemberg, two-thirds, so it Vorderösterreich partially became a Catholic in the possession of Austria as a part. 1806 came the first Austrian parts of the country by Napoleon to Württemberg. As of 1808 stood Poltringen the management of the Upper Office Herrenberg. In the reorganization of 1938 it fell to the district of Tübingen. The formerly independent municipality Poltringen has teamed up on 1 December 1971, five other municipalities to the municipality Ammer book.

Religion

Historically Poltringen had a majority Catholic population. Even today, the population is still primarily Catholic. In the village there are two Catholic churches and although the St. Stephen 's Church with an onion dome on the outskirts in the direction Reusten and St. Clement 's Church in the town center. The Protestant community in Poltringen does not have a church in the village and is the protestant church assigned in Pfäffingen.

Attractions

The football striker Kim Kulig began her soccer career at the age of eight years at SV Poltringen, where she played in a boys team. The U-20 World Champion of 2010, now plays the national team for the Bundesliga club 1 FFC Frankfurtund.

Carnival

The Poltringer have the nickname " Bock Moster " because they had jumped into the cider press apple juice during pressing of the legend, a goat, who wanted to eat the apples.

In 1967, Walter Ulrich designed a buck Moster -called Swabian- Alemannic Fastnacht costume of a white fools, the corresponding wooden mask and the bell dish. Today there are about 80 active Bock Moster and 35 children who carry the so-called Narrenhäs, the larva, the Jar and the Gschell to Fasnets time.

Airfield

In the district Poltringen the special airfield Poltringen is the ICAO designator EDSP. There the flight sports clubs Ammer book, Herrenberg and Unterjesingen are located. They operate there with hundreds of members eight engine aircraft and 16 gliders.
