Polyyne

Polyynes are organic compounds having more carbon-carbon triple bonds, similar to the polyenes having more C = C double bonds. In a narrow sense so aliphatic, unbranched hydrocarbons are designated by more triple bonds.

In the atmosphere of Saturn's moon Titan arise polyynes, the ultraviolet radiation shield.

In plants occur polyines particularly in the families Compositae and Umbelliferae. Meanwhile, more than 1,000 naturally occurring polyynes isolated from plants, cultures of higher fungi, bacteria, marine sponges and corals known.

The simplest representative of polyynes is diacetylene ( butadiyne ). Also hexatriyne and Octatetrain are representative of the group of polyynes. Molecules having up to about 12 units of ethyne are stable complexation of the molecular terminals and Polyynes ethyne units 14 can be isolated.
