Pōmare IV

Aimata vahine o Punuatera ITUA ( born February 28, 1813 in Pare, † September 17, 1877 in Papeete ) was dated January 11, 1827 to September 17, 1877 Queen Pomaré IV of Tahiti and Moorea.

Origin and family

She was the daughter of the king Tunuieaite atua Pomaré II and his second wife Terito i te rai. In December 1827 she married Teriinohorai Tapoa II, king of Bora Bora, where she was already promised as a child. Her second marriage, she completed on 3 December 1832 in Pare and married her cousin Ariifaaite Tenania a Hiro (* January 10, 1820 Huahine, † February 12, 1873 Papeete ), son of a Hiro Perera and Teihotu Taavea vahine, a subsidiary of Tamatoa III.

History

The young Aimata took over as " Ari'i rahi " on 11 January 1827 succeeded her deceased brother Pomaré III. and straightway fell into a European power struggle over the archipelago.

After her return from exile on Moorea, Raiatea and Bora Bora reigned queen Pomaré IV of 1847 to 17 September 1877 a French protectorate.
