Pōmare V

Teriitaria Teratane Pomare ( born November 3, 1839 in Taravao, † June 12, 1891 in Papeete ), reigned as King Pomare V. 24 July 1877 to 29 June 1880 and was the last King of Tahiti before the archipelago was annexed by France and became a part of French Polynesia.

Origin and family

He was the son of Queen Pomare IV Aimata and her cousin Ariifaaite Tenania a Hiro, her second husband. On November 11, 1857, he married in Huahine Temarii a Teururai Maihara Teuhe (* 1838 - August 21, 1891 ), later Queen Teuhe II of Huahine and Maiao. She was the daughter of Queen Tehaapapa II in 2nd marriage he married on January 28, 1875 Joanna Marau Taaroa a Tepau Salmon (April 24, 1860 - February 2, 1934 ), the daughter of Alexander Salmon ( 1822-1866 ) and his woman Arii Taimai, the granddaughter of Tati 's boss Papara who got the name Arii Oehau from your mother Marama.
